Vision's body was created due to the efforts of Ultron and Helen Cho to make the perfect body for the former. Attempts to upload Ultron fully into the body failed and the Avengers were able to retrieve the cradle he rested in. Rather than his destruction, Tony Stark would gain a different idea. His personality programmed by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner from what was left of Jarvis' programming.
Although there was much arguing to prevent his existence, his life came from the mind stone in the middle of his forehead and Thor's thunderbolt that finished the powering up of the machinery that brought him to life. Initially confused, he charged at thor and thor launched vision into the air. The sight of his body, and the New York skyline, lead to the Android calming down.
He would apologize and listen to how grave the situation was at only minutes old. And he would realize of those there... They saw him first as a child of Ultron, which he addressed, informing them he was not Ultron or Jarvis. When Wanda said she saw destruction in his head, he asked her to look again.
Their next issue was seeing him as the mind stone. It is only Captain America, Steve Rogers, who addresses him as a person abet with hostility. Questioning if he was on their side... He made sure for them to know it might not be as simple as whether he was on their side but he was on the side of life.
It did not alleviate their worries... Bruce Banner would come up with the question of 'what if you're the monster Ultron made you to be' with quite a clear threat. He was almost afraid to confirm that threat. But he would discuss how he did not wish to kill Ultron but they had to since his pain would roll over the earth. How they could only stop him together.
He wasn't sure how to get them to trust him... Yet somehow, after he picked up the hammer to give to Thor, to get them to move on their way, he somehow earned it. He would talk with Thor later on the matter and then talk to Mr. Stark since unlike the others he did not need much time to prepare for battle.
He would play a major part in the fight against Ultron. At his creator's sad response at even having him taken away, he reminded the other that he could still change this on his own terms. This did not go well and Ultron would just try to strangle him. He took the opportunity to disable Ultron, making him only able to stay in the city, but it overloaded him.
It would take time to wake up and when he wandered onto the battlefield again, he noticed Thor in trouble. Using the hammer, and Thor's long speech, he hit Ultron with it. He commented on the weight and the balance of the hammer then returned to fighting. After hearing defending the key was the mission, he would work on the outside of rest of the Avenger's fights, getting the stragglers.
Vision was attacked by his creator and after grappling, would shoot him with a beam from the mind beam. Working together with Thor and Iron Man, they would break down Ultron's main body enough Hulk could hit him away. The other bodies would run at this and working together with Rhodes, Vision would take down the sentries.
Wanda's upset at the death of Quicksilver would lead to both Wanda destroying Ultron's main body and the key being activated. Vision would rescue her from the falling island. In the end... He would be the one to confront his creator. About life, about death and about humans. About how something isn't beautiful because it lasts and how it was a privilege to be among them. Ultron would call him naive before being killed by Visions mind beam.
He would become a part of the Avengers, for the months they were still active, under the team being trained by Steve Rogers and Natalia Romanov. He did not always accompany the team but he would always advise and be prepared for battle.
When Tony Stark came to the tower, accompanied by Thaddeus Ross, he would go to tell Steve Rogers and Wanda about it. Then be scolded for the fact that he phased through the wall rather than entering through the door. He listened to the meeting about the Sokovia Accords.
Although the other avengers argued about the terms... Vision agreed with them from what he listened to, finding through his algorithm that instances of world ending events had increased since they showed up and felt that "Oversight is not an idea that can be dismissed out of hand". He would be as upset about the rest learning about the student who died during the events involving Crossbones.
Vision would later have quite a pleasant conversation with Wanda, after first failing to cook, talking about their powers and how they viewed themselves. When Wanda tried to leave, he informed her Mr. Stark had asked her to be confined for her own safety. She would argue with him about being confined, saying she can defend herself, but he promised he just wanted the world to see her as he did.
Hawkeye would come to break Wanda out. The distraction would only stall Vision momentarily and he would confront the archer on his not belonging there. Hawkeye would try to disable him with an electric arrow, then fail to fight him, only getting out with Wanda when Wanda came in to fight. He was made to phase out then slammed to deep underground the facility so he was unable to make it up in time.
He was the last of Tony's side to come to the fight and would try to convince Steve Rogers to not fight, but fail. He stayed in the air for most of the fight, besides intervening for the preservation of human life, not wanting to harm either side but instead capture those on Steve's side. He tried to shoot at Falcon but was blocked by Hawkeye and besides that mostly guarded the battlefield.
He tried to stop Steve and Bucky from leaving but would be prevented by Wanda. Rhodes would stop Wanda with a sonic blast and, rather than go after the fugitives, Vision would go to Wanda's side. Distracted by talking to Wanda... He would shoot from the ground to come to the aid of War Machine.
Although he shot at Falcon, Falcon dodged, and Vision's beam managed to hit Rhodes' power core. Neither Sam or Tony made it to Rhodes' side and Rhodes' was severely injured. When asked how it could happen... All Vision could say was that he was distracted and was not sure how it would happen. He was left thinking about his place on the team and as a being.
He does his job, when he is sent out, but his heart is not in it. He is deeply stricken by what happened with Rhodes and the danger of his power.
Vision is on the side of life. He finds a beauty in the brief lives that humans lead and being a part of an existence that includes them. He is quite polite but it does not keep him from being blunt since he sees no reason to make his words kinder. He has emotions and is often times quite confused by it, leaning on logic to try to understand the world even as he somewhat had hypocritically commented how humans could not understand that order and chaos coexist.
He can show regret at having to destroy or stop things but leans more to the idea of the greater good. The events of Civil War, with there being a clear right in his mind but so many people having their reasons, was hard on an empathetic individual like Vision. Although he was on the side of the Accords, he listened to the arguments first and always tried to capture those who had been his friends.
He would rather talk than fight and hates having to fight. He has a deep respect of Tony Stark, respect for Steve, emotions he does not quite understand for Wanda and in general is trying to learn everything about how to be more human. Combined with that... The events of Civil War has left him in a place where his default of working off logic cannot help him.
Synthetic Body: Vision's body is a mix of synthetic flesh and vibranium. This grants him a number of powers and weaknesses. He is naturally stronger and more durable than the average person however as of current it gives him quite a distinctive appearance that makes him stand out.
Density Manipulation: Vision is able to increase and decrease his density, weight and mass. He can increase his durability or make himself weightless. This can be used to increase his strength, selectively attack parts of objects due to being able to selectively manipulate his density and fly. He can also make himself intangible and so able to go through walls.
Energy Blast: Thanks to the mind store, he can use mind blasts. This can melt through vibranium and tear through a tower in seconds. It can travel over a long distance quite quickly but is not his first move and will never be after what happened to Rhodes.
Synthetic skin constructions:He can generate synthetic material, making his armor and cape out of it when he was newly born. He is also capable of making clothes. In theory, he can make human looking skin but he has not figured that out yet.
Technological interface/Computer interaction: He can hack programming and access the internet. However... This activity can be tiring on him.
Mind Stone: As well as the density powers and the energy blast that Vision is capable of using, there are also powers the mind stone has that Vision has not accessed yet. These include the power to bend a target's mind to the user's will and project the user's consciousness to another plane of existence. Mind control, astral projection and energy projection essentially.
Genius Level Intellect: He is inhumanly quick and can download data into his mind. A lot of his thinking is very literal so he gets logical knowledge very quickly and social knowledge/human interaction slower.
Vision is a being of non human origins who exists as an outsider. As much as he is an outsider, he wants to know humanity and learn about them the best he can. He loves life and works for the greater good to preserve it. This can lead to conflict in situations that are more complicated than logic can deal with.
He prefers to stand back and learn but it is hard to do since he doesn't quite blend in. When confused, he prefers to lean on logic.
Vision is a bit awkward with his communication with people, due to not quite being familiar with human mannerisms and having to learn things as he goes, but when he does speak he weighs his words carefully. He likes to communicate on a human level and try to.
If your character accepts his honest attempts, they likely will get along. He quite values friends and will try to help the best he can even if there is a fight going on. He does what he can to learn knowledge.
Vision does not have a bad side or a bad bone to his body. He did not hate Ultron and he could not hate anyone in civil war for not picking the logical side. The only way he will be antagonistic towards you is if you are a threat to life.
He may very well have enemies who do not like his mannerisms or who he startled by phasing through a wall. He is still learning how to blend in with humans.
Vision is not seeking love... However he currently has a crush on Wanda. Whether this turns into anything is still open depending how he goes.

Thor Odinson and Vision: You're one of the first people other than Wanda to hit my plotter!
-coughs- I do think Vision would get along with Thor as well. They talked a little before battle with Ultron and I think that is special. Because Vision was put into battle on his first and second day of existence.
And also Thor had to be the least uneasy about Vision person that he dealt with. The question is how will we thread them?
